Name:first100days
Bio:The purpose of this journal is to put up a simple day-by-day comparison of policy actions taken by George W. Bush and by Barack Obama in their respective first 100 days in office.

I am concentrating on "policy" actions, not where they went to church or whom they met with. So, for instance, I'm not reporting that President Obama met with economic advisors, unless the meeting, on that very day, resulted in some concrete action. On the other hand, I'm not reporting that President Obama created a commission to examine whether or not the Army Field Manual's rules will meet the CIA's needs for interrogation. It is an action, yes, but it doesn't signal policy until such time as the president hears a report and makes some change to the rules. This is bound to get a little subjective on my part.

Weekends promise to provide little substantive action during either administration, so I put the day of the week in bold, to draw attention to the reason why little happened.

Bush's actions are more difficult to dig up than Obama's will be, so on those days when I utterly fail to find documentation for Bush's actions, I'm going to pull in some peripheral juicy tidbits about his administration. I promise to explain clearly what I'm doing at the time.
